'Chest of Drawers'

I used ideas within ‘deconstructivism’ to take apart an old mahogany/oak drawer, up-cycling each element using screen printing techniques. The design was inspired by simple forms within Surrealism and child-like playfulness. A concept isn't necessary, but can arise whilst instinctively working and experimenting. I consider beauty within imperfection and try to remember the history of unwanted objects. I wanted to offer a controversial viewpoint on traditional furniture making, offering alternative woodworking ideas. We need to use the materials already available and not keep adding to the amount of waste we create. - £250
